Priors Hall Park’s Vibrant New Village Green

28.02.25

This year’s Report and Accounts cover, which we've incorporated into our Lightbox at 50 New Bond Street, is the Village Green Play Area at Priors Hall Park.

The park, which was officially opened in September 2024 by Corby MP Lee Barron, was designed by Urban&Civic with nature and sustainability in mind and includes many innovative design features.

  • The village green is a multi-generational space, with pétanque, chess tables, ball labyrinths and physical pieces which enable enjoyment for all ages and promote family fun

  • There is an enhanced offering of accessible play with the rotating plate, wheelchair see-saw and cradle swing

  • Chess tables and wheelchair/pushchair space have been incorporated into the street furniture

  • Table top trees and “beehive” canopies provide tactical shade points to provide protection from the sun

  • Natural grass surfacing to the primary play space have been supplemented with a recycled rubber grass matt to provide critical fall from height protection

  • 200m of copper and purple beech hedging to frame the space and provide a soft boundary

  • There is a feature liquidambar tree surrounded by  a circular bench made from sustainable iroko timber

  • A flowering meadow boundary enhances bio-diversity  and a mix of Silver Birch, Rowan, Lime and Hornbeam trees provide structural beauty and species resilience

  • Lighting bollards are made from sustainable Oak and use low level LEDs to reduce energy use and lower light pollution

It was a genuine pleasure to open the play area at Priors Hall Park and see for myself this lovely development. It is important youngsters of all ages have the opportunity to play in a safe and healthy environment. Research tells us that active play develops fundamental movement skills, such as coordination and balance, and engenders confidence and motivation. So, as well as looking good, this play area will enrich the lives of local families.

Lee Barron, MP for Corby

We were delighted to welcome Lee Barron MP to our Priors Hall Park development. The new village green created by Urban&Civic looks brilliant and offers fun for a wide variety of age groups. We hope our new residents at the development will enjoy playing here.

At Priors Hall Park, we believe that thoughtfully designed green spaces are at the heart of thriving communities. It’s wonderful to see children exploring and enjoying our imaginative and inclusive play areas, designed to spark creativity and connection. Alongside our new village green, these spaces provide families with a welcoming and inspiring environment, one that nurtures play, learning, and a true sense of belonging. As Priors Hall Park continues to grow, so too does the vibrant community that calls it home
