Young people from Priors Hall Park enjoyed a fun-filled day of free sports and craft activities in their amphitheatre thanks to close partnership working between local organisations.
Urban&Civic hosted the event which saw North Northants Council’s Sport and Play Development team lead on the lively outdoor games, while St Mary’s Church and Weldon Rock Solid Youth Club provided volunteers to run the popular craft activities.
Nearly 100 residents turned up to take part in dodgeball, archery and swingball led by qualified sport coaches as well as making rock animals and pendant necklaces in a craft tent.
Tables and chairs were borrowed from Priors Hall Community Centre and North Nothants Council’s Safer Corby Team provided an alcohol awareness game as we all engaged with residents about what they would like to see for young people locally.
We were delighted by the Priors Hall Park community’s response to the Youth Games. Staff and volunteers worked hard to provide an afternoon of free activities which saw the local amphitheatre full of children having fun. We received positive feedback from young people and their parents who said they’d love to see more events like this in the future.”
