The Waterbeach Community Market is a vibrant monthly event that brings together residents, the local community and visitors to support an eclectic mix of local traders.

Held on the third Sunday of each month, this bustling marketplace offers a unique mix of over 40 stalls featuring everything from fresh produce, handmade crafts and vintage items to clothing, jewellery, pet supplies, and plants. As well as exploring the diverse range of goods on offer, visitors can also have their hair cut and bike repaired, making the Market a one-stop destination for both shopping and practical needs.

Originally held in the Village Hall in Waterbeach Village, the market was in danger of being homeless, until Urban&Civic found a home for them, first in the Community Rooms and now as they continue to grow in the Terraces – the former base for fire service units on the old Airfield. The Terraces have become a firm favourite for meanwhile uses, situated as they are between the new community and the village, and with undercover space enabling stallholders to display their wares without worrying about inclement weather, especially during the autumn and winter months.

The lively atmosphere is further enriched by food trucks and live music, creating a regular community gathering that supports local businesses and brings people together.

We were so thrilled to be offered temporary space at the Barracks, but never expected that we would be able to become an ongoing feature now there are new residents. We were worried moving out of the village that we would have less people coming, but the market goes from strength to strength, with more stall holders signing up to come including food from around the world, barbers and music, and more visitors every time who enjoy the indoor and outdoor space for the community to gather. The space at Waterbeach allows the market to be more community orientated, we aim to be truly inclusive and the space at Waterbeach helps us to achieve that goal. We are fast becoming a go-to market even for visitors from Cambridge and Ely. The support, promotion and partnerships Urban&Civic have opened up for us has been amazing, and we are so pleased we will be able to continue to grow alongside the new community.
