The Glade, the first local centre at Alconbury Weald, includes a Co-op and a public square and open space for events and will in time be home to the development’s second nursery and additional retail units. The Glade will add to the existing community hub on the development’s main Boulevard, alongside The Unit Fitness gym, Bohemia café and bistro, the community library, cricket pitch and Pavilion community centre.
Central Co-op – the first shop within the Glade - launched its new store in Alconbury Weald in the summer, giving residents greater choice and complementing the development’s first local shop, Swynford Stores. As well as a variety of ranges to suit all tastes, the store features InPost parcel delivery lockers, an Insomnia Coffee machine and a free water refill station.
Sustainability measures are incorporated throughout with solar panels and Smartcool refrigeration, saving 25% in terms of kWh consumption and being more energy efficient. Electric vehicles are also catered for with charging points.
