Building on the success of the last five Employee Away Days, Joh Thomas (U&C) and Katie Yates (Catesby Estates) were once again tasked with leading the coordination and delivery of the 2024 event at Newark.
Nigel Wakefield remained as EMC representative and the wider working group included Harry Stewart and Caroline May working on creative and presentation slides, Emily Seeney-Fox with event administration duties and Madalyn Smith coordinating logistics including travel and accommodation. Mark Redding & Simon Murphy from the CCP team were a core part of the team, helping to deliver Day 2 and dealing with onsite site liaison, content and creative.
This annual event is a highly valued communications channel by employees and provides an opportunity to showcase a site to the wider business. The YMCA Activity Village provided a perfect community venue to facilitate all our needs for what was the largest company away day to date.
This event provides an opportunity to be disseminate news and key messaging from across the business. This year our theme was active travel, and we were joined for our panel discussion by Graham Grant of Active Travel England, Julian Scriven of Brompton Bicycle, Rachel Toms of Sustrans and Matt Lamb of Newark and Sherwood District Council.
The group took on the responsibility for delivering both the Day 1 and Day 2 activities as well as the evening dinner and entertainment.
Day two featured a range of activities based at the YMCA and made use of their excellent sporting facilities which is very fitting when the Paris 2024 Olympics had only just finished. The day provided a fun opportunity to team build with Catesby Estates team being crowned the overall winners of the U&C Olympics.
