Developer takes Darlington to new heights at Feethams

A KEY MILESTONE has been reached on the way to the completion of Darlington’s £30m new leisure scheme – Feethams.

The steel frame for the multi storey development is now in place – taking the building to it full height.

Developer Terrace Hill, now part of Urban&Civic Plc, was joined by partners from Darlington
Borough Council to mark the occasion.

Simon Hawkins, Development Director at Terrace Hill, said: “You can really start to see the scale and ambition of this project.  The emerging scheme at Feethams is testament to Darlington Borough Council ambitions for this historic town.

“Terrace Hill and the wider Urban&Civic group, have a strong track record of transforming commercial sites and bringing forward high quality leisure developments through good design, a local supply chain and attracting big names.

“We are proud to be delivering Feethams Darlington with an exceptional local workforce and are on target for people to be watching movies, meeting friends and enjoying great food on this very spot next Spring.”

Councillor Bill Dixon, the leader of Darlington Borough Council and its Chief Executive, Ada Burns, attended the Topping Out ceremony.

Cllr Dixon said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with those who share our ambitions for our borough.

“It is fantastic to see the Feethams complex taking shape and I have no doubt it will be a great success.

“With the recent completion of DfE offices, Business Central and the construction of the National Biologics Facility, Darlington’s skyline is being transformed, bringing opportunities and helping to shape our town.”

The £30m transformation of the former Bus Depot site will bring a nine screen multiplex Vue cinema, an 80‐bed Premier Inn, a Nandos, Prezzo and other big name restaurants, bringing 500 local jobs to the town. The development is due to open to the public in Spring 2016.
